UH-West Oahu Profs Retire
As he writes on page 10, MidWeek columnist Dan Boylan is retiring from teaching at University of Hawaii-West Oahu after 34 years. He was one of four retiring UHWO professors honored at a luncheon recently at Waikele Country Club. Together they provided more than 100 years of service to the students of UHWO.
ASB Donates $20,000 Grant
American Savings Bank recently contributed a $20,000 grant to the Waipahu Community Association, a nonprofit organization that operates the Waipahu Festival Marketplace. The marketplace provides local vendors a popular venue to sell fresh fish, produce, meat and an assortment of ethnic foods and baked goods. The grant will be used to renovate a vacant warehouse, enabling vendors to refrigerate inventory and grow their business.
