Kahuku Coach Ferguson Tops In Water Polo

Kahuku water polo coach Aukai Ferguson has been named the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s Co-Coach of the Year.

Ferguson, who announced in February that this season would be his last in order to spend more time with his growing family, led the Red Raiders to a fifth straight OIA title recently as well as a second consecutive second-place finish in the state water polo tournament.


Ferguson shared Coach of the Year honors with Dexter Lee of Kapolei. The Red Raiders have never lost to an OIA opponent in five years of sanctioned water polo.

Gina Ahue and Rebecca Fonoimoana were both named to the OIA’s First Team for the Red Raiders, who finished 17-1 overall this season.All-league selections are made by the conference coaches.
