The Kaneohe Kiwanis Club has figured out how to run a pancake breakfast, and members have been doing it every Mother’s Day for 47 years now. But the last few years, they experienced leftover food (which goes to Aloha Harvest) and dwindling numbers, so they cut back on the supplies this time. Oops. “This was the most successful one we’ve had in a long time,” said breakfast chairman Joshua Chang. “We served 1,200 people and toward the end we ran out of a few things. We were making runs to Times and Safeway for more eggs!” No one went away hungry though on May 11, and every $5 admission went to scholarships and club programs at Castle, King and Kaneohe Elementary. Happy Mother’s Day, pancake fans.
