Heeia Aloha Fest For Sixth-graders

Heeia Elementary School parents wanted to send their sixth-graders off with a day, and night, to remember from their small-kid school days. Another formal dinner just wouldn’t do, explains Loha Chun, one of the organizers. So they created a marathon ‘Aloha Fest,’ from 2 p.m. May 27 to 10 a.m. May 28 on the school grounds. It was Pleasure Island for sure, complete with inflatable rides, a rock wall to climb, karaoke, disposable cameras, prizes, photo corner, dinner, a movie, and breakfast the next morning. They may have felt like they died and went to heaven. The ohana also had a special guest, principal Susan Young, who is retiring — which may also be a little like going to heaven.
