Kailua banjo player Paul Sato strummed himself all the way to Nashville last week for the World of Bluegrass, a huge gathering of musicians with similar leanings from all over the world. Paul and the Windward band, Saloon Pilots, play this weekend at Kailua’s Big City Diner Friday and at KEY Project’s Koolau Ohana Festival Saturday ... Also this weekend, the West Honolulu Rotary Club presents its 2007 David Malo Award to Maunawili’s Oswald Stender for his outstanding contributions as a Native Hawaiian to promoting the “understanding and appreciation of the richness of Hawaiian culture and heritage.” The real estate broker and former Bishop Estate trustee currently serves on the OHA board of trustees, among many, many others.
