Bob Rogers and Windward’s Coconut Joe band are on the Channel 8 morning show Friday, at Kapiolani Park at 11 a.m. Sunday (for the Century Bike Ride) and from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lulu’s Waikiki Surf Club ...


Last chance to see Kaneohe playwright Y York‘s Nothing Is the Same: 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Honolulu Theatre for Youth’s Tenney Theatre (839-9885) ... Oops. Oahu Dive Center provided depth gauges on a recent dive for the movie trailer, Into The Blue. According to our Sept. 14 story on the filming, they were death cages. “We do not really want to put the Rollerball image with our dive shop,” points out the Kailua center’s president, Bob Beard ... Pay attention now. Dr. Abe Lim of Florida ran the Maui Marathon last weekend. He’s now run 100 marathons in 50 states. Abe will also be in Kailua Sept. 26 to celebrate the first birthday of his twin grandchildren - Alana Lim and Jevin Lim - born to Dr. Eric Lim and Dr. Geesnell Lim of California. According to Eric’s mother, Diana Lim, here’s how it all started: “The medical school placed students in their classes alphabetically, and Gess Lim (from Florida) and Eric Lim (from Hawaii) were side by side in their rotations, and fell in love. She was grateful not to have to change her name.” So am I, I think. Happy Birthday to the Lim-Lims. By the way, Eric grew up in Kailua and attended Le Jardin. Diane is a nurse and Eric’s dad is a doctor, and both of his in-laws are doctors. Imagine how long their shingle would be if that clan opened a clinic together. Eric and Geesnell met at Loma Limda, er, Loma Linda med school ... Hawaii State Hospital’s forensic coordinator

Alex Lichton of Kailua and social worker and substance abuse counselor Susan Cromer of Kaneohe left Sept. 11 for the Gulf Coast to provide mental health services to Hurricane Katrina victims ... Petty Officer 1st Class Mack Memea postponed his retirement at Kaneohe Marine base for a month, but he doesn’t mind. The leave extension allowed him to watch son Michael hit a few significant home runs on the mainland for the West Oahu Little League team.

Mack works with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 24 ... By the time you read this, the Lost crew should be winding up filming in Waihee Valley, using KEY Project as their base of operations. KEY staffer Pinky Katayama says last Friday they lunched on New York steak and creme brulee with the cast of the popular TV series ... Speaking of being lost, reroofing work has displaced the Castle High School office. It’s set up for now in a portable “behind the cafeteria in front of the three-story building,” and the registrar is in room 30. Good luck ... Kaneohe’s own medical thespian, Dr. Kalani Brady, steps into the lead role of Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls Friday and Saturday at Richardson Theatre - after one rehearsal. Kalani replaces Lenny Klompus who had a prior commitment (438-4480) ... College student Alex Gotay of Maunawili (Hawaii’s first NPR From the Top star in 2003) earned his way to first trumpet this summer in the National Symphony Orchestra at Kennedy Center ... Alycia Anderson of Kailua has entered the freshman class at Fordham University’s Rose Hill campus in the Bronx ... Waiahole Valley dance teacher Vivien Lee will co-lead workshops for K-5 teachers in Honolulu and Kealakekua this year to help them convey concepts of science to students using dance and dance strategies. And maybe have fun, too
