WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!

THE GOLDEN Nugget‘s expansion plans got approved, and it will be adding a new tower, a second casino, more restaurants and other entertainment offerings (maybe even an aquarium). The expansion will occupy an entire block of Carson Avenue (the street with its parking lot).

DOWNTOWN Gordie Brown has extended his Golden Nugget contract through March 2006. This is a great mid-priced show that Alexa (Krater96 weekend love songs hostess) highly recommends.

MARITZA Dillion wins big when the Quarter Million machine pays off at the Palms ... $363,577 on a quarter slot! At the Fremont, Amelita Alfaro of Ewa Beach won $25,820 on the $1 Black Gold, while at the Cal, Frank Tsuchitori Jr. of Honolulu won $20,000 on two 10x’s pay jackpots.

THE WORLD Poker Tour, Five Diamond Bellagio Tournament is happening now - let’s all wish the Hawaii players good luck. Last year’s prize pool totaled over $5 million and Daniel Negreanu had the $1.7 million first-place payday.

WINTER Wonderland is also happening at the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. This is the most amazing thing you’ll ever see done with flora and fauna. The 13,500-square-foot display is free and features 40 trees, 500 shrubs and more than 10,000 blooming plants. Check out the polar bears (made out of white carnations), the state-ofthe-art animated penguins, mini fountains, cranberry bog and the 45-foot Christmas tree.

IF YOU’RE taking the kids to Vegas this Christmas break, check out Opportunity Village’s “The Magical Forest,” with the Enchanted Carousel, the Forest Express Trains, live music, millions of lights and Santa Claus. It’s all for a good cause. For more details, go to www.opportunityvillage.org/.

THIS WEEK we talk with Vegas comp and blackjack expert Max Ruben, and up-and-coming poker pro Eric Lindgren Thursday at 9 a.m. on Sports Radio 1420 AM.

THINKING about surprising your significant other with a Vegas New Year’s for Christmas? Here’s a range of rates you can expect to pay for a room on New Year’s Eve based on quotes direct from the hotel websites on www.kimosvegas.com: Golden Nugget, Hard Rock and Wynn are SOLD OUT, Bellagio, New York, New York and the Mirage start at $649, and The Venetian is $899 quickly escalating to $2,995. Louis Vuitton or Tiffany’s are looking more like a bargain.
