Monday Football cheerleaders don’t

WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas! Thursday at 9 a.m. on Sports Radio 1420 AM we talk with Howard Schwartz, the guy they call the Gambler’s Librarian. He’s read every book on gambling and stocks, most of them at his store, the Gambler’s Book Shop, the oldest and largest book store of its kind.

WOLFGANG PUCK executive chef Terence Fong is hosting weekly cooking classes all month at Chinois in the Forum Shops. It’s $45 to learn tips and techniques from the master chef. Classes are limited to 30 people, and you get a Wolfgang Puck baseball cap, a $25 gift card and eat what you make! Sign up at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

WHYSHOULD you check out X-Treme Monday Football at The House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay? They have their own cheerleaders; it’s my understanding that they go both ways ... you know, they cheer for both teams.

DID YOU know that high atop the Mandalay Bay is a private club called the House of Blues Foundation Room? Membership is $2,000 per person or $5,000 for a company per year, with gold memberships available (for a lot more money, of course). Try this Kimo’s Vegas tip: On Mondays, the club is open to everyone for a special after hours party called “Godspeed.” For a nominal cover charge you get to see how the other half lives. Accessible by private elevator only, the views from the 43rd floor are unequalled.

IF YOU see Wataru Bisquera of Ewa Beach, rub him for good luck! He won $50,000 on a Fremont Red, White and Blue ... I’m having a good trip when I can say I hit one jackpot, but check this out: Lydia Bisquera hit the Blazin’7's for $1,486, $1,018 and $1,020. Melrose Edralin won $4,000 and $2,000 on the 10X’s pay, and another $2,000 on the Blazin’ 7’s.

THE HIGH prices at the pump affect everyone, and the Palms Casino Resort is helping out by giving away $125,000 in gas! There’ll be 100 winners a day during the entire month of October.

IT’S OFFICIAL, Landry’s Restaurants has taken over the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino. They paid $140 million in cash and assumed $155 million in debt to add the downtown jewel to their portfolio. Tilman Fertitta, chairman, president and CEO of Landry’s, says that they plan to continue to invest and improve the Nugget ... could a world class aquarium be in the plans?

IF YOU get a chance, check out the Blue Man Group’s new digs and new show ... they spent $50 million on the theater and if you’ve seen the show at the Luxor, look for a lotta new stuff in this one. No worries, though, the BMG remain true to form and not a word is spoken during the entire performance (proving that men are capable of communicating without speech). The show premieres Oct. 10.

Janet Jackson is throwing a
party for her beau at TAO

LAST WEEK we told you about Janet Jackson renting TAO for her beau Jermain Dupri’s 33rd birthday party. But did you know that TAO is the most expensive restaurant ever built? The place features skyboxes (with your own cocktail waitress) and is decorated with bathtubs filled with floating rose petals, Buddhas, Asian statues, orchids, incense and gladiolas. The price tag for all this fun: $25 million.
