“WHAT IS SEXY?” Victoria’s Secret held a party in Vegas to announce its picks for 2007. Secret models Heidi Klum and Karolina Kurkova announced the winners, who included (singer) Justin Timberlake as sexiest male musician, Carrie Underwood (American Idol) as the female counterpart. The sexiest actress went to Jessica Alba, while Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy) was sexiest actor. Soccer super-star David Beckham was voted sexiest dad, and Almost Famous star Kate Hudson sexiest mom. Sexiest athletes went to Indy driver Danica Patrick and Yankee Derek Jeter. The undies sexiest couple award went to Beyonce and BF Jay-Z. The sexiest beach body award went to actor Matthew McConaughey (they threw out the male voters).

IT WAS A busy week for McConaughey; he was also dubbed Sexiest Male Celebrity by the customers of Madame Tussauds Las Vegas. General manager Adrian Jones said “Matthew won in a landslide.” Fans can pose with the wax likeness, wearing a T-shirt and jeans, and even bring a twinkle to his eyes. The newest edition to the museum is guaranteed to make the museum’s most fondled list.

Jessica Biel co-stars in the new Nicolas Cage flick ‘Next’

OPENING THIS WEEKEND: Nicolas Cage’s new movie Next, in which he plays a Vegas magician who can see the future (a talent that helps when gambling). Julianne Moore and Jessica Biel co-star in the flick directed by Maori Lee Tamahori (Once Were Warriors). His favorite quote: “Sex should not be in the movies and should be in the home, and violence should be in the movies and not in the home.” I’m betting we’ll get a lot of the latter in Next.

ON ITS WAY to becoming the most expensive thing ever built, the MGM Mirage’s CityCenter project has grown by 670,000 square feet, and construction costs are estimated at $7.4 billion. Current plans call for 2,700 private residences; two 400-room non-gaming hotels; a 60-story, 4,000-room resort casino and about 470,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space scheduled to open next November. MGM Mirage is the largest landholder of the most expensive real estate in the U.S., controlling 865 acres on the Las Vegas Strip.

THE LATEST TREND at Vegas blackjack tables is to pay 6:5 for a BJ (bet $50 win $60). This is a considerable hit for the player compared to the standard 3:2 payoff (bet $50 win $75). The trend we’d like to see was offered for a limited trial at Casino Montilago in Lake Las Vegas. They were paying 2:1 for a natural (bet $50 win $100).

DID YA HEAR about the woman who put the slogan “What Happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” on underwear? So far the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority has spent more than $620,000 in legal fees pursuing the infringement. Perhaps she should just use “What happens here stays here” (let’s hope so).
