Dear Pamela,

My husband and I would like to sincerely thank the staff at Queen’s Medical Center Labor and Delivery and Postpartum departments for their excellent care and service Sept. 8 through Sept. 13.

We encountered so many fantastic and caring people and want to recognize them for their service and compassion. On the Labor and Delivery side: Lydia, Brenna, Jennifer, Haunani, Dr. Johnson, Dr. Chow and Dr. Khaw; and in the PostPartum Department: Rowena, Hetta, Michelle, Annette and lactation consultant Gerri. We are sure that we have forgotten everyone’s names who we encountered and apologize. Many thanks to all of you!

Lastly and most importantly, the biggest thank you goes to my OB/GYN Dr. Stephen Lin and his amazing staff, Gladys, Kim and Roberta, for their support over the years and for helping to bring our baby safely into this world. Our little girl is thriving and is a complete blessing to our family.

Dear Amie and Robert,

“Your letter regarding the birth of your new baby girl at The Queen’s Medical Center is music to our ears,” says Nancy Valla, director, Inpatient Services. “Our labor, deliver, postpartum and nursery team members are exceptional people who work very hard and have a deep passion for what they do. Our team’s ability to succeed is extremely dependent on partnership with our support resources within our Queen’s ohana: dietary, facilities, housekeeping, central supply, volunteers, etc. We are so proud of our entire team, and love to take opportunities like this to pause and celebrate the very kind words expressed in your letter. We wish new baby girl Bird a warm welcome into this beautiful world and want her to know that she is a part of Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV’s legacy’s of caring for the people of Hawaii.”

Dear Pamela,

A big, big MAHALO to Julie and Patrick for returning my brother’s wallet, which was found by Patrick in the Kapiolani Boulevard/Atkinson Drive area. God answered my prayer as I received a call from Julie with the wonderful news. I also called Patrick to thank him for returning the wallet with everything intact. We surely are blessed with the Aloha Spirit here in Hawaii. God bless you both.

Dear Karen and T.,

Julie Augustino of Hawthorne Pacific Corp. says all the credit goes to Patrick. “I work in the Mapunapuna area where there are a lot of homeless people. One day Patrick came into the office and asked for stamps. I asked him what for, and he said he found a wallet and wanted to mail it to the owner. We looked inside and found a doctor’s appointment card. Once I explained to the nurse, she gave us the contact information. Everything was in it, including her money!”
