up for their return on Sept. 24. In order to participate, student-athletes, staff and vol- unteers must be fully vaccinated (two weeks after the second dose) by the start date.
“This decision was not made lightly be- cause we know the important role athletics play in a well-rounded education, but we cannot jeopardize the health and safety of our students and communities,” states in- terim superintendent Keith Hayashi. “The alternative is canceling the season outright, which we don’t want to have to do; so we are implementing this layered plan that pri- oritizes vaccinations as the best way to pro- tect against and reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.”
Participants may seek exemption from the vaccine with appropriate documentation, but will be required to submit twice-weekly negative COVID-19 test results.
