Public Hearing Friday For Coconut Island Fix

A public hearing on proposed repairs to Coconut Island is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kaneohe District Park.

University of Hawaii is seeking to replace and rehabilitate infrastructure at its Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, located on the island in Kaneohe Bay. This entails the installation of underwater utility lines (which will be installed under the bay via horizontal directional drilling), the rerouting and repair of wastewater and sewer lines, and repairs to Lighthouse Pier.

To review the proposed repairs in advance, visit the city Department of Planning and Permitting’s office at 650 S. King St. (seventh floor) weekdays between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Interested parties are welcome to testify or submit written testimony in advance.
