Pearl City Softball Standout Signs With Midland College

When it comes to athletics, Pearl City’s Roblynn Kami is one to keep her options open – even from an early age.

“Ever since I was 5, I tried every sport – cheerleading, soccer, volleyball, baseball,” said Kami, who likes to be called Robi. “It was baseball that first got me and drew my attention. When I was 12, I switched to softball.”

Kami has found that her commitment to softball has paid off, as she will be attending Midland College in Texas next year on a full athletic scholarship. Midland is a junior college that currently competes in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.

Her decision “relieved some stress,” Kami admitted, noting that she can now focus on her senior season with Pearl City High School.

“I considered other schools,” she said, “but when Midland gave me a full ride, it made it easier to narrow my choice.”

With her senior prep season approaching, Kami took some time away from practice and her studies to visit with MidWeek‘s West Oahu Islander.
