Peace Day Concert Set At Wahiawa Hongwanji

In observance of Peace Day, the Oahu Hongwanji Council plans “A Concert for Peace” from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 22 at Wahiawa Hongwanji’s social hall.

The event will feature Oahu District Hongwanji Temples and Japanese pop artist Yuji Sasaki. Community groups and other guest performers also are scheduled to perform.

Admission is $10, which includes a buffet lunch, and RSVPs are requested by Sept. 3. The hongwanji is located at 1067 California Ave.

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly to coincide with its opening session – the third Tuesday of September. In 2001, the U.N. established Sept. 21 as an annual day of non-violence and a worldwide cessation of hostilities.
