Join Girl Scouts In Honoring Veterans
The community can join Girl Scouts and their families in making lei from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 27 at Windward Mall. The completed lei
will be draped on the headstones of veterans buried at Hawai‘i State Veterans Cemetery from 9 to 11 a.m. on May 28.

n Memorial Day weekend, Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi will honor members of the armed services by placing American
flags and lei on headstones at the Hawaiʻi State Veterans Cemetery in Kāneʻohe. This year, the Girl Scouts are asking for the community’s help to ensure that each of the more than 10,000 in- terred veterans receive a lei. They are accepting donations of lei, loose flowers and/or request- ing assistance with making lei.
The community is encouraged to join Girl Scouts and their families in sewing lei from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 27 at Windward Mall. Veterans are also invited to come dressed in uniform to share their stories with Girl Scouts, volunteers and mall shoppers. The completed lei will be placed on the headstones of veter- ans buried at Hawaiʻi State Veterans Cemetery from9to11a.m.onMay28.
Donations of flowers and lei may be dropped off at Windward Mall’s center court. Suggest- ed donations include plumeria, bougainvillea, stephanotis and crown flowers.
