He spent more than 50 years coaching the youth of Waimānalo and has been a part of many families’ lives for generations. The neighborhood has such love for Henry that they celebrated his legacy earlier this month by making the 86-year-old the grand marshal of this year’s Waimānalo Christmas parade. His name was suggested as grand marshal three years ago, but due to the pandemic the parade had to be postponed until 2022. His family ex- presses gratitude for his nomination.

“Credited for bringing the Police Activities League to his hometown, he fought to put ‘Nalo on the map and has touched the lives of so many. He loved the kids of Waimānalo and believed that they were different from kids any- where else — he believed they were tougher!” explains Skye Castillo, Henry’s granddaughter. “It is the wish of his family that the older gen- eration will continue to remember the impact he made in the community that he loved and
