erated ChadLou’s Coffee Roasters is a quality-focused, local, independent, farm-to- cup specialty coffee company that began in 2010 with the goal of creating a true com- munity space for people to connect over great coffee and food. Throughout the years, the company has furthered its passion and has been growing and producing its own coffee in the same Kailua ahupua‘a as its roastery and café in Maunawili for several years. ChadLou’s has recently re- opened its group coffee tast- ing experiences during which friends and ‘ohana can come together at the Kailua roastery to explore coffee in depth and try a variety of its roasts from different Hawaiian Islands and global growing regions.
“(Running a) small busi-
ness, especially here in Ha- wai‘i has been tough, and we don’t know where we would be without the community,” says Sheila. “Thank you for supporting us, all our ‘ohana and livelihood, our dreams and goals; let’s keep buying local and building Hawai‘i up; building each other up.”
Kodama, fulfilling his dream of owning a business that would be a fun gathering place for friends and ‘ohana. For more than 40 years, the business has maintained its goal of spreading the “aloha spirit” with its unique combi- nation of authentic Hawaiian shave ice and premium local- ly made clothing line — more of which is to come in the following weeks with new apparel arriving.
Although this was Island Snow and ChadLou’s first collaboration, it certainly won’t be their last as they are already tentatively planning to release a new collabora- tive blend in early 2022. The Sandy Claus can be found exclusively at ChadLou’s and Island Snow for $30. It will be available until the end of the year on a first-come, first- served basis, as the supply is very limited.
According to Island Snow vice president Brockton Ko- dama and director of oper- ations Adam Kodama, the decision to work with Chad- Lou’s was an easy one, as they’ve always been big fans of its coffee.
