MVETS Hawai‘i Service Foun- dation Corporation is a nonprofit veterans service organization that
not only makes a difference in the lives of service members, but also helps to bring the community together to build a brighter future for generations to come. It was established to help raise funds to support programs, services and assistance for the AMVETS Department of Hawai‘i and all AMVETS posts statewide.
AMVETS Hawai‘i state commander Don- ovan Lazarus retired from the U.S. Army in 2010 and helped come up with the idea for the West O‘ahu Veterans Center in ‘Ewa Beach.
“We used to have to pick up veterans from the West side and bring them over to Foster Village because they didn’t have transporta- tion,” he says. “We needed more resources on the West side.”
The organization’s mission is to provide advocacy, support and assistance for all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
