ark Salondaka of Royal Kunia has returned more than 500 shopping carts that were scattered through-
out the West side community to their proper stores.
It all started in 2019 when Salondaka noticed 13 wagons had accumulated at the entrance to Royal Kunia, most likely left there by a houseless individual who used the carts to transport items to the tunnel un- der the entrance.
“I decided to return the carts to the stores,” says Salondaka, nonchalantly.
He first returned carts using his pickup truck, but as he found more carts around Royal Kunia and along the road into Waipahu, he decided to attach a cargo car- rier onto his truck’s tow hitch, “making it really easy to load and offload the shopping carts,” he explains.
Salondaka has returned shopping wagons to various stores in Waipahu. He always returns the carts anonymously, simply motivated in- trinsically. However, one of Salondaka’s friends
