“The next time I went to Seafood City, the manager asked to speak with me,” Sa- londaka reveals. “She was very appreciative of me re- turning their carts and gave me a halo-halo (a Filipino shaved ice dessert). This past Christmas, she gifted me a huge fruit basket.
“The manager and I are now friends, and we always speak with each other when I go shopping at Seafood City.”

Salondaka is assuredly an outstanding citizen for his persistent actions.
Since retiring for the sec- ond time last year, Salon- daka enjoys spending time with his wife, Donna, and three daughters, and pursing his passion for photography — while continuing to take the time to voluntarily return shopping carts.

So, who is Salondaka? The 1979 James Campbell High School graduate was active duty in the U.S. Air Force from 1980 to 2000, flying on a C-141B aircraft loadmaster. After retiring, he joined Hickam Field as a federal civilian employee,
