awai‘i Girl Power, a robotics team that works out of a garage in Waike- le, is proving the sky’s the limit when
girls work together.
The all-girls team — which consists of
elementary students Julia Reilly and Devyn Ames of Kanoelani Elementary School, Evangeline Watkins of Hawai‘i Baptist Acad- emy, and Brielle Calderon and Gabriyela Andrada of Holy Family Catholic Academy — recently won the title of Teamwork Chal- lenge Champion at the 2023 Hawai‘i VEX IQ Elementary School State Championship.
Competing with more than 30 robotics teams and participating in eight matches at the state tournament, Hawai‘i Girl Power proved to have what it takes to bring their ro- botics skills to the next level. By becoming a state champion, Hawai‘i Girl Power is able to compete at the 2023 VEX Robotics World Championship in Texas.
“I am proud of my team and happy that we won states,” notes Andrada.
