rom 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10, Ha- wai‘i’s Plantation Village celebrates its 30th anniversary with a day full
of fun for everyone.
Attendees can expect games and prizes
for keiki, a craft store, food vendors, mu- sic and dancing, genealogy research booths, cartoon drawings, special exhibits and dis- plays at the event, which is open to the pub- lic at no cost.
There will also be free tours of outdoor plantation houses and buildings, where the public can learn about the various ethnic groups — including Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese, Puerto Rican, Japanese, Oki- nawan, Korean and Filipino — that lived on the grounds hundreds of years ago.
Hawai‘i’s Plantation Village has been a mainstay in the Waipahu community since ’92, and carries out its mission by preserv- ing and sharing the cultural legacy of Ha- wai‘i’s sugar plantation workers.
