ugust Ahrens Elementary, ‘Ewa Makai Middle and Kapolei High are among 83 Hawai‘i Department of Ed-
ucation schools to offer free meals this summer to keiki age 18 and under.
Open now, the Seamless Summer Option program will serve breakfast and/or lunch at select schools Mondays through Fridays, with the exception of June 10 and July 4.
“Good nutrition is vital to the health and development of our growing keiki and sum- mer food service programs help to ensure that meals are available for all school-aged children during the summer break,” states superintendent Keith Hayashi. “We encour- age our parents to make these meals part of your child’s summer schedules to give them balanced and nutritious options. We thank our devoted cafeteria staff and administra- tors and our federal partners for making this program possible each year.”
Recipients do not have to be enrolled at a participating school to be served.
