MARCH 8, 2023 MIDWEEK 7
    Dear Darah,
I want to tell you about a woman named Kris Aihara, who works as our boss. She is a mother of two boys, Austin and Seki, and married to a first responder — a National Guard nurse named Scott. Somehow, she is able to manage the crew, her family, husband, work and life itself. She has decided after 20-plus years of being at Honolulu Museum of Art that it’s time to give her full dedication to her boys. We all will hurt to see her leave, but are happy for her and her family. She will be missed and is irre- placeable to us and the mu-
seum. That old saying, “You don’t know what you have till it’s gone” rings so loud to us. We will go forward with a heavy heart knowing that our boss is spending time with her true ‘ohana and can always visit to say hi. Until then, thank you for keeping us in mind at work, home, and always thinking the best for us boys! You will be missed, never forgotten, al- ways remembered!
Aloha and mahalo, The Facilities Team
so nice to look forward to going to the office to be around people who make work not feel like it’s work. Best of luck to you all as you carry on her legacy of hard work, dedication and prioritizing people. And all the best to you, Kris, as you continue to light up the lives of those you love.
Dear Darah,
I was at the Pearl City Longs last November, stand- ing in line at the cashier and unbeknownst to me, the woman in line in front of me told the cashier to ring up my purchases and she would pay for it. I was stunned by this woman’s extreme generosi- ty and I couldn’t thank her
enough for such a kind ges- ture. I saw her in the parking lot as she was getting into her car and I thanked her again. If you read this, a great big Mahalo Nui to you! You are amazing!

Dear Mark,
woman sees that her ac- tions are making our com- munity a happier and bet- ter place.
Dear Darah,
I wish to thank the valet guys working at Side Street Inn on Feb. 13. They helped me out and were so nice to let me park even though I didn’t have the cash to valet. I think they knew I wasn’t from the area. Anyway, they were super nice and I believe a good deed should always be mentioned.
Ann Lee Smith Mililani
Thank you for taking the time to recognize these
individuals for their kind- ness. Not only will people know Side Street Inn for their delicious pork chops and fried rice, but also their awesome valets!
Is there someone you’d like to thank? Mail letters to MidWeek c/o Mahalo Nui at 500 Ala Moana Blvd. Ste. 7-500, Honolulu HI 96813, or email mahalonuiwithda- rah@gmail.com. Include your name, where on the island you reside, phone number and, if possible, the phone number of the person you’ re thanking so she can contact him or her. Darah Dung hosts “The Pet Hui” and “Island Driver,” both on Spectrum OC16.
Dear HoMA Facilities Team Boys,
You’d be surprised and delighted at how many good Samaritans read this column and recognize their past acts of kindness. It is often overwhelming to be the recipient of random generosity and I encour- age people to ask, “What’s your name?” if only to in- clude that person in your prayers. I hope that this
Dear Ann,
