or Dr. Shaun Ohira, getting into the chiropractic field was not original- ly part of his career plan. Medical
school had been his goal ever since he took an anatomy class in college at Brigham Young University in Utah, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science.
While working as a personal trainer, he accidentally hurt his back and went to the doctor’s office. There, the doctor prescribed muscle relaxants and pain killers. As some- one who preferred more natural methods of healing, those remedies weren’t exactly what he wanted.
“I knew there were other ways to heal my back instead of immediately turning towards pain killers and pills,” Ohira says.
The experience was a wake-up call for him.
