ometimes the only thing that hits the spot is a perfectly made poke bowl. Opened in late March, HanaPa‘a Mar-
ket is the newest addition to Koko Marina Shopping Center that’s already making waves across the neighborhood. The store offers takeout poke sold by the weight or in a bowl. There are also sandwiches, salads, wraps and local sides like edamame, kimchi boiled pea- nuts, fresh fruit and pickled onions.
The poke bowl comes with a variety of sauces and flavors guests can choose from, in- cluding Hawaiian, shoyu, spicy mayo, oyster sauce, garlic, kimchi, miso and furikake. The refreshing meal is perfect for a pick-me-up after a hike or surf sesh out on the east side. Patrons can choose ‘ahi, octopus, salmon, shrimp and imitation crab. For folks craving heartier fare, there are Hawaiian-style plate lunches including a poke plate, blackened rare ‘ahi, chicken and roasted portobello mush- room. These plate lunches come with a choice of white, brown and sushi rice, and sides of potato salad, greens and dressing.
