āla Market recently opened at Ha- wai‘i Kai Towne Center, and its healthy and delicious offerings
are quickly gaining fans.
“We were looking for a restaurant that we
felt good about bringing to our own families a few times a week,” states JP Lam, co-own- er of Māla Market.
“(We wanted) something fresh, fast, af- fordable and delicious, something whole- some and healthy that we felt good feeding to our children and eating ourselves. Finding few options, we decided to create Māla Mar- ket.”
According to Lam, “māla” means garden in Hawaiian, making it the perfect name for its veggie-forward menu.
Lam is also the co-owner of Off the Hook Poke Market in Mānoa, so he parlayed his knowledge of what customers demand into the development of the Hawai‘i Kai eatery.
