Kamehameha Schools Opens Kū‘ono Marketplace At Kāhala
Earlier this summer, Kame- hameha Schools commem- orated the grand opening of Kū‘ono Marketplace at Kāha- la, the newest dining and retail center in East Honolulu. The event commenced with a Ha- waiian blessing.
the property was developed by KS to help it achieve its goal to optimize the strength, breadth and strategic align- ment of its resources with an organization-wide focus on funding the endowment that supports the education of Na- tive Hawaiians.
The blessing was followed by a welcome from KS exec- utives and community lead- ers. Attendees were treated to meet-and-greets and tours of the center. POW!WOW! Hawai‘i artists Roxy and Matthew Ortiz, the duo who created one of the highlights at the center — a vibrant mu- ral inspired by the Wai‘alae spring and kāhala fish — offered talk-story sessions about their work.
