Holiday Library Events, Closure

It’s time to get crafty (and competitive) at a couple of West Oahu library locations.

• Snowflakes are falling at Aiea Public Library, thanks to its Festival of Snowflakes contest, and keiki in grades 6 and below are invited to enter and decorate their own paper snowflake. The last day to enter the contest is Dec. 17, and entry forms can be picked up at the library. Winning snowflakes will be on display in the library Dec. 18. Call 483-7333 for more information.

• Let your creativity run wild for Ewa Beach Public & School Library’s Christmas tree ornament contest. All ornaments must be no larger than 4-by-4-by-4 inches and cannot be made from breakable materials. Categories include adult, teen and keiki ages 5 and older. All ornaments must be submitted by Dec. 12. Winners will be announced Dec. 22 and will receive gift cards as prizes. Friends of Ewa Beach Library sponsors the contest, and voting is open Dec. 15-19 on its Facebook page or by filling out a ballot at the library. Call 689-1204 for more information.

• Pearl City Public Library will be closed for renovations starting Dec. 15. The book drop will be locked at 5 p.m. Dec. 14 and through the duration of the project. Also, the parking lot will be closed. Re-roofing, reflooring and various other improvements are in store for the library, which is located at 1138 Waimano Home Road.

A date has not been set for Pearl City library’s reopening. For more information, visit librarieshawaii.org.
