OM, which became the Office of Multicultural Student Services in 2000, was founded in 1971 and was one of the first UH programs to address campus diversity and promote equal access to higher education.

OM has developed community outreach services, works to increase the number of underrepresented groups at on campus, provides scholarships and prepares students for college-level study.
