Festival Celebrates Philippines

The Filipino Community Center in Waipahu is gearing up again for its annual Filipino Festival, which will feature three events during May.

Now in its 22nd year, the festival centers around the theme of resiliency and unity in the Philippines.

It all kicks off with the Fil-Am Young Leaders Summit May 3 at the FilCom Center. Next up is the Hawaii Philippines Business Economic Forum May 8, also at the center.

The main event is the Filipino Festival and Santacruzan that is scheduled for May 10 on the Honolulu Municipal Grounds. The programs showcase Filipino cuisine, music and dance, traditional clothing and visual arts. Live entertainment also will be provided by Philippine-based artists. A range of vendors will offer their products and services for sale.

Local businesses or nonprofits wanting to participate in these events can download registration forms at filcom.org.
