Construction for senior living community Ilima at Leihano began June 27 with a groundbreaking ceremony within the mixed use Kapolei development.

The community will be comprised of 84 units among two and three-story buildings that have one or two-bedroom floor plans with living areas, kitchenettes and private lanais. Residents also will have access to dining plans, transportation services, housekeeping, emergency response services, a memory care center and wellness programs.

“The city of Kapolei provides an accessible, centrally located setting for a community like Ilima at Leihano,” said Mitch Brown, chief development officer of Kisco Senior Living, which is spearheading the project with Kiewit and Group 70 International. “As a pedestrian-oriented city, roads are safe to cross, and important services are within walking distance.”

“We are very pleased to be a part of Ilima at Leihano, not only because we are helping to build a state-of-the art senior living center in the Kapolei community, but because of the innovative concept and programs that will be launched here,” stated Sharon Thom, Kiewit senior vice president. “Ilima at Leihano will offer our kupuna an alternative housing option that encourages independence, active lifestyles and an environment that facilitates daily interaction between seniors and other generations.”
