Child-Senior Center Now Open

The St. Francis Intergenerational Center opened its doors last month in Ewa Villages after breaking ground in March 2012.

The center is designed to provide both a preschool for keiki and an adult day care for aging seniors who need help during the day. Administrators say that it will alleviate stress to working parents who have senior parents of their own, while providing mutually beneficial experiences for both keiki and kupuna.

Located on 1.25 acres, it can serve up to 42 adults and 88 children (ages 3 to 6) daily. Staff will provide supervised care and assistance to seniors and a kindergarten-prep curriculum for children. The two groups also will regularly participate in joint activities. For more information, visit stfrancishawaii.org.
