STEM Seminar Aimed At Girls

What do chocolate, interview skills and edible plastic have in common? All are seminar topics at American Association of University Women’s Tech Savvy conference, to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Windward Community College’s Hale Akoakoa.

The STEM-oriented event is intended for girls in grades 6-9, with hands-on workshops in math, science, engineering and technology-related fields, and instruction in life skills like leadership, critical thinking and communication.

Adults can attend a presentation on the value of STEM careers and learn more about preparing girls for college.

Admission is $5 for students and $10 for adults. Pre-registration is required at www.aauw.org/what-we-do/stem-education/tech-savvy/. For more information, visit honolulu-hi.aauw.net.
