Kalaheo senior-to-be Jack Bell is definitely a man for all seasons, having competed in soccer, baseball, football and track and field during his previous three years for the Mustangs. By this point, he’s used to the balancing act.

What are his favorites? “I have my favorite and the one I’m best at,” said Bell. “My favorite would be soccer, but I’m best at baseball.”

Much of his focus lately has been on football. Bell was Kalaheo’s starting quarterback last fall, and the Mustangs recently wrapped up spring practice. He and his teammates currently are in the midst of their summer football workouts.

“It was a long wait (for football season), and I was excited to get back into it,” he said.

Bell recently took some time away from his busy schedule to visit with MidWeek‘s Windward Oahu Islander.

What is your earliest sports-related memory? Practicing with my tee-ball team behind Kailua Elementary when I was 4. Practice seemed like it was only 20 minutes, but it was probably more like 45 minutes. That is what definitely got me into sports.

Who’s had the biggest impact on you in your life? Definitely my dad (Jeff). He’s the guy who would always take me to the park and push me along. He’d throw me the football or kick the soccer ball with me. He never let me quit anything.

What are your impressions of Kalaheo’s spring football practices? What is the strength of the Mustang team at present? Probably the strength of our team will be on defense. We have a lot of big guys on the line, and we’re hoping to have separate lines on offense and defense this year. We’re also looking to get a lot better with our passing game.

What will be your area of focus over the summer months? I’m going to a few baseball camps in Kapolei, California and at the University of Oregon. I have 7-on-7 (passing leagues for) football (with Kalaheo), and I just joined the Honolulu Bulls Soccer Club.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned through athletics? I definitely keep focused on my school work. I need to step it up for my senior year — not that I haven’t been doing well.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself playing in MLB (Major League Baseball). That’s what I’m working for.

What Internet site do you frequent the most? I guess YouTube. I like to look at GoPro, Red Bull and Lifeaccordingtojimmy.

What is your least favorite household chore? Washing the cars — that’s the main one.

What movie could you watch over and over? Probably The Other Guys.

Who are three of your favorite musical artists? Mac Miller, Imagine Dragons and Chiddy Bang.

Do you play video games? What systems do you have and what are your favorites? I have an iMac with PS4, XBox360 and a laptop.

You’re stuck on the island of Kahoolawe. You can have an endless supply of one food. What would it be? A steak plate from Oneawa Market.

What celebrity would you most like to meet? I would probably like to meet (actress) Jennifer Lawrence.
