Full Moon Concerts At Park Resume June 21

The Kailua Full Moon Concert Series will kick off June 21 with headlining entertainment from Ledward Kaapana and Mike Kaawa at Kailua District Park.

The second annual family program runs from 5 to 8:30 p.m. featuring Hawaii poet laureate Kealoha as emcee to the multiple-award winning Kaapana and 12-string master Kaawa. Opening act will be the hometown bluegrass band, Saloon Pilots. Seating is first-come, first-served on the park lawn. Beach chairs and picnics are welcome; food trucks will be on site.

A lineup of acts are planned throughout the summer until September, supported by Keller Williams Realty, McKenna Ford and Solar City, with more sponsors and volunteers always welcome. For details, visit kailuafullmoonconcerts.com.

The series is partnering with a local nonprofit water-shed advocate to help keep Kailua green and its oceans blue, noted concert founder and Realtor John Stallings.

“Our concerts have always promoted green initiatives, so this year it was a natural to partner with Hui o Ko’olaupoko,” he said. “The event is free, but a $5 donation is suggest in an effort to raise awareness and contribute to local restoration programs supported by Hui o Ko’olaupoko.”
