‘The Wiz’ Opens Friday At Paliku

New Hope Oahu Youth Performing Arts Center will present The Wiz this Friday through July 7 at Paliku Theatre.

The “super soul musical” puts L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the context of African-American culture. This version is directed by Dane Ison, with Angela Young as choreographer and Jonathan Cabagbag orchestra director.

The production opens at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and June 28-29 and July 5-6; and 4 p.m. Sunday and June 30 and July 7 on the Windward Community College stage. Tickets cost $20 and $15 and may be ordered online at enewhope.org/thewiz. For more information, call 842-4242.
