Concerts Span Latin To Lahaina

The 110 voices of the Windward Choral Society will unite in May for their sixth annual spring concert, “Latin America to Lahainaluna,” highlighting the music of 20th-century Argentina and Hawaii.

The show begins at 7 p.m. May 9 at St. Ann’s Church in Kaneohe, followed by an encore performance at 2 p.m. May 10 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Kailua.

Both concerts are free, but freewill offerings will be accepted to offset costs.

WCS will perform Ariel Ramirez’s Misa Criolla, a South American-inspired Mass, as well as songs from modern Hawaii, including Waikiki and Lahainaluna.

Special guests include tenors Bernaldo Evangelista and Kaweo Kanoho from Hawaii Island, the 19th Avenue Barbershop Quartet and other local singers.
