Ag Month Cooking Tips From Farmers Market

National Agriculture Month comes to Kaneohe with cooking tips from the experts at Windward Mall’s farmers market.

Called “Ho’ala the Awakening: Featuring the Farms, the Food and the Lokahi,” the demonstrations and samplings are planned from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday in March while the market is open for business.

“Our community has embraced our local farmers,” explained mall marketing manager Alex Kirley, “and we’re excited to celebrate their important contributions of fresh, local and healthy foods.”

Dean Okimoto of ‘Nalo Farms, which provides the market vendors, kicked off Ag Month himself last Wednesday with a cooking lesson with local colleagues.

Scheduled today (March 14) are KeikiCakes and Hannah Hadaway with “Cooking for Keiki”; March 21 Liko Kaluhiwa of Paepae o Heeia with “Hawaiian Foods in New Ways”; and March 28 Daniel Anthony of Mana Ai presents “Cooking and Poi Pounding.” For more information, call 235-1143.
