A little bit of Hollywood makes its way to UH West Oahu next month as part of the college’s free Creative Media Masters Series, which focuses on the art and business content of university’s program.

Film composer John Ottman, known for his scores in hits like The Usual Suspects, X-Men, Superman Returns, Valkyrie and more, also is an award-winning film editor. In total, Ottman has composed more than 40 film scores, edited more than 10 films, produced three films and directed two.

From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 5, he will discuss the ins and outs of his industry at UH West Oahu library’s Uluulu Exhibition Space, located on the first floor.

Producer and director Roger Corman and producer Julie Corman are scheduled to speak about their professions Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., also in the Uluulu Exhibition Space.

Roger Corman, who has produced more than 300 feature films, is best known as the “godfather of independent film,” especially for his work on Little Shop of Horrors. In addition, he was one of the first to bring foreign films to the United States.

Julie Corman began her career with Boxcar Bertha in the 1970s and has producing credits on more than 35 films.

Both Ottman and the Cormans are visiting UH West Oahu as part of EuroCinema Hawaii, where Ottman will serve on the 2014 EuroCinema jury, and both Cormans will accept the Princess Dialta Alliata di Montereale Lifetime Achievement Award.
