UFC Gym Celebrates Grand Opening At Waikele Location

More than 4,000 people filled UFC Gym BJ Penn Waikele April 19 for its grand opening.

The new venue at 94-875 Lumiaina St. is the second on the island; the first UFC Gym is in Kakaako.

“We are excited to grow as a company here in Honolulu and look forward to being able to offer all of our services throughout Hawaii,” said UFC Waikele general manager Kimo Luna.

The event offered class demonstrations and entertainment. Penn, along with other UFC fighters Josh Thompson and Hughes, also made an appearance.

“As a training facility, we are fortunate to offer things a normal gym wouldn’t be able to, such as a 30-by-30 official-size octagon movie wall, our very own bag room with more than 20 bags, a kids club, the Arm Bar Cafe, physical training, MMA training and an awesome staff,” Luna said.
