Throwing Horseshoes In Kahala Helps Sand Volleyball Team

Helping the UH Rainbow Wahine sand volleyball team may be as simple as throwing some horseshoes around — just so long as you register by Oct. 9 for the second annual Rainbow Wahine Sand Volleyball Portuguese Horseshoe Tournament.

The event runs from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Hunakai Park in Kahala. Individual entry fee is $125, or $200 for a team of two. Those who want to support the ‘Bows without competing can donate $50 and serve on the Wahine Cheer Squad. All proceeds go to UH’s sand volleyball program.

In addition to the tournament, there will be heavy pupus and drinks, plus the opportunity to meet the coaches and team.

RSVP online by visiting the sand volleyball page on hawaiiathletics.com, or mail forms to Women’s Sand Volleyball, c/o AKA, P.O. Box 11719, Honolulu, HI 96828.

Under head coach Scott Wong last season, the team made it to the AVCA Sand Volleyball National semifinals, and the pair of Karissa Cook and Brittany Tiegs placed second in the nation in the pairs tournament.

The ‘Bows will return to the beach next spring. For more information and updates, call 394-7650 or visit hawaiiathletics.com.
