‘Tartuffe’ Comedy On HPU Stage

A classic of Western theater returns to the stage at Hawaii Pacific University when Moliere’s Tartuffe opens at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Paul & Vi Loo Theatre on the Hawaii Loa campus.

The comedy will run through Dec. 8, starting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Directed by Joyce Maltby, Tartuffe tells the story of a swindler who deceives the aristocrat Orgon with a false show of piety. Tartuffe schemes to cheat Orgon of his wealth and his wife, and Orgon’s family and servants must rally together to stop him.

David Starr plays Orgon and Rob Duval is Tartuffe, with a supporting cast of Lynn Weir, Melinda Malt-by, Joel Kado, Miina Huotari, Nick Barnum, Rob Duval, Stu Hirayama, Becky Maltby, Ron Heller, Tim Dyke and Rachel Funk Heller.

Tickets cost $20 general admission, with $15 for students, seniors, military and HPU faculty and staff. HPU students pay $5 admission. Discounts are available for Wednesday and Thursday shows.
