Salty Girl Jewelry

Amber Chesebro grew up around art and jewelry, so it’s no surprise that she would become a jewelry designer.

“My father paints landscape paintings with oils, acrylics and watercolors, and my mother sold her amazingly crafted macrame jewelry when we were younger and she was a stay-at-home mom,” she explains.

Born in Rhode Island and raised in a fishing village on the coast of Maine, Chesebro graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 2008 with a BFA in jewelry and metalsmithing before moving to Hawaii, where she found work for a local jeweler.

“Ever since I started learning metalsmithing techniques I dreamed of having my own line of jewelry,” says Chesebro, 30. “I always have so many designs floating around in my head, and I felt it would be a waste if I didn’t do anything with them and spent my life working for someone else.”

In 2010, she started Salty Girl Jewelry, which is described as high-end beach chic with a slight edge. “My intention is to create handmade jewelry that is elegant and wearable without being boring,” she says. “My jewelry is mostly inspired by nature, and my main focus is strong design and originality.”

Each finely crafted piece is fabricated from sterling silver, 14k gold-fill and 14k rose gold-fill. To add color, Chesebro incorporates a variety of natural materials, such as beetle wings, shells, coral, sea-glass and semi-precious stones. Featured here are some of Salty Girl’s newest designs, including the just-released Limu-inspired jewelry available with or without diamonds.
