Pearl City Welcomes The Plaza Assisted Living This Month

It’s been The Plaza Assisted Living’s plan to open a location in Pearl City, and it will open its doors this month to seniors in the area.

“It became our theme to look for familiar neighborhoods so that residents could either live in the neighborhood they’ve been living in or be near their children,” explained regional director Tricia Medeiros. “We also realized in our existing communities the people moving in were from an immediate radius.”

As regional director, Medeiros oversees operations for all Plaza communities and has been with the organization since its inception at The Plaza at Punchbowl back in 2004.

The Plaza Assisted Living, which celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year, also has locations in Mililani and Moanalua, and a Waikiki location is expected to open next year.

The setup is similar to other facilities, and the Pearl City operation will feature two sections: one for assisted living and the other for memory care services for patients with dementia or Alzheimer’s, as well as a short-term respite-stay option.

Residents and their families can choose from three types of monthly rental apartments: one bedroom, studio and semi-private.

Not only does The Plaza Assisted Living wish to help seniors in the area, it also wants to be part of the growing community.

“It’s our goal to have programming with the schools,” Medeiros added. “We should be a community resource, not just a place for seniors to live. It’s a place for kids to do their recitals, a place for Bible groups and support groups.

“It’s much more than just a senior living apartment complex. It really should live and breathe the community.”

The Plaza at Pearl City will be able to accommodate 158 residents and feature services such as medication management, exercise and activities, housekeeping, linen/laundry service, three daily meals and more.

Conveniently located in West Oahu, it is close to Pearl Highlands, Walmart, Longs Drugs, Pali Momi and Queen’s Medical Center-West Oahu.

For those who wish to be out and about, a library, theater, game room, outdoor courtyard, activity room and Plaza van are available.

Employment opportunities are listed online at plazaassistedliving.com.
