Kāne‘ohe Gymnasts Win Big At Contest

ernanda Ibarra Bray, head coach and owner of O‘ahu Rhythmic — a gym- nastics center in Kāne‘ohe — recently
took five rhythmic gymnasts from the island to their first USA gymnastics competition in San Diego — and they all brought a medal home.
The center’s youngest gymnast, Ja- cynn-Eve Balatico, won second place for her age division (those born in 2015), Bri- elle Cruz (2013 division) won third place, Hana Joaquin (2011 division) earned sec- ond place, Mallika Murali won first place for (2011) and second place for overall high score for rhythmic ball routine. In addition, Arya Wong placed first on overall high score for rhythmic ball routine, third place over- all high score win for floor routine and first place all-around winner for the entire level three consisting of more than 45 gymnasts.
“This was a total of eight medals,” Ibar- ra Bray states. “We are very proud of this achievement because we are a relatively new team — less than three years offering class-
