Price of Punalu‘u is putting his free time to good use for the community. Four years ago, Price came up with the innovative idea of Bottles4College, where he and other volun- teers collect cans and bottles to help pay for kids’ college tuition.
“I wanted to help address social issues and make higher education more accessible,” says Price.
He attends King Intermediate School in Kāne‘ohe and is the son of Maria and Mike.
“I knew there were many families that face the challenges of high cost of living and having extra costs are unfeasible. I also wanted to help preserve our beautiful islands. I thought, why not create something that can be a community effort and help many more people instead?” Price says.
So far, Bottles4College has collected and recycled approximately 437,357 cans and bottles, which translates to $21,883.53.
