The venue was the sixth (of 10) stops and was located on freshwater farmland near- ly 100 miles from the ocean. The contest took just two days — unlike ocean con- tests, which take 10 days due to holding periods.
For me, the waves were so perfect it got a bit monot- onous. Though, I could still barely take my eyes off the TV. Plus, I love the chat and insight from the competitors and commentators. There is so much surfing and waves teach us about life.
“You can’t wipe the smile off my face right now,” she says. “And to be sharing the podium with these amazing humans is an honor. I think all of us as athletes just want to perform to the best of our potential and I definite- ly think there was more for me to give out here. But, I felt happy and present, and that’s what matters most to me. I didn’t really imagine it would go quite this good and I’m just really happy. I have a lot of family and friends
