nfortunately, many longtime ka- maʻāina have an untold tale of a loved one tragically affected by the
crystal meth epidemic of the early 1990s. Actor and producer Jason Quinn couldn’t ig- nore those voices from his dark past, which led him to write and publish Concrete Rain- bow “to tell the brutal truth,” he says.
Quinn, who grew up on O‘ahu’s West side, dropped out of James Campbell High School and was “heading down a dark path” during his teenage years, “scrambling from day to day with people who were going to be dead or locked behind bars,” he depicts.
However, he escaped “the bottom of soci- ety’s septic tanks,” finding his way into theater, film, television and music production, includ- ing studying at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, releas- ing two hip-hop albums with group The Apos- tles, appearing on CSI: Miami and producing a solo album, Chapter 7, of which the song War was featured in the videogame Scarface: The World is Yours.
