Foster An Adult Dog With New Program

awaiian Humane Society, which is currently building its second island location in ‘Ewa Beach, launched a
short-term foster program in an effort to pro- vide shelter dogs with a home environment and alleviate space constraints at its Mō‘ili‘ili campus.
Through the Couch Crashers program, the West O‘ahu community can foster any dog older than 6 months for at least 72 hours and as long as two weeks. According to the or- ganization, not only does the program enable potential adopters to learn more about dogs they may be interested in, but moving dogs into a loving home environment, even tem- porarily, can also profoundly impact the ani- mals’ well-being.
The Couch Crashers program, which pro- vides fosters with all the necessary supplies, has been popular with people looking to adopt. So far, approximately 75% of partic- ipating dogs have been adopted by their fos- ters families.
